• 2 eggs plus 1 extra yolk
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 12 slices of white bread

DIRECTIONS:

1. Whisk eggs, yolk, milk, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla, and salt in a bowl. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp butter. When the bubbles calm down, sprinkle 1 1/2 tsps sugar and melt to caramelize.

2. Dunk a slice of bread in the bowl; place in skillet. Repeat with two more slices. Cook until undersides are deep golden. Sprinkle each slice with 1/2 tsp sugar; flip and cook until golden.

3. Wipe out the pan with a paper towel; repeat steps with remaining bread.
